And it’s time…

I love the new year! Fresh calendars, clean slates, blank canvases. Time to review, evaluate, and set forth new goals and ambitions.

So what is it for me? I am going to write and post a blog every single day this year. Or at least, that’s what I’m gonna try to do. This is a BHAG – big hairy audacious goal – but hey – even if I only post every other day, that is still WAY more than I have been doing.

Writing is something I have been wanting to do more of. I love writing but have gotten away from posting. Also I know that if I want to improve, I need to practice. And what better way to practice than to share the goal with you? So be watching for a post from me. Every single day. For a year.

Okay, so now that I’ve established the goal, I can also share the inspiration behind it. Because let’s face it, attention is our most precious resource. And if I’m going to keep my own interest in this, it better be something good.

I think it is. You may agree, or not. And you can decide as we go. Maybe you can even comment what you’ve learned if you want to take this journey with me.

I want to write about what I’ve learned today. Meaning that every single day, I will need to actually learn and share that something with you. This also means that I will need to get comfortable with confessing what I didn’t know. 🙂

This was inspired by my sweet friend Vera. She and I spent some time together recently, and I was reminded of something that I learned from her. Vera is approaching her 103rd birthday (!!!) and she taught me her secret to a long and vibrant life. It is this: she learned a long time ago to not be afraid of new things. So I think it’s safe to say that embracing new things and learning new things are synonymous, and that is what I will be focusing on for this year. Learning and sharing, staying humble, and keeping up with my writing practice.

What did I learn today? Today I learned what a BHAG is.
